To camp inside the cave, the team pitches two tents to accommodate up to 12 people. At this point, more than a mile inside the mountain, the temperature of the cave is no higher than 37°F, so to keep warm, the team cooks food and boils water for hot drinks inside the tents. They also zip sleeping bags together to conserve body heat while resting.
