One of the most iconic and striking parts of Lechuguilla cave is called Pearlsian Gulf. It is named after the beautiful and pristine cave pearls that litter the floor around a beautiful emerald green pool of water. Pictured here and what this area of Lechuguilla is famous for are the cave pearls. In my seventeen year caving career, never have I ever seen a nest of cave pearls so pristine and so clean! On average each pearl is approximately 15mm in diameter.
