Imawari Yueta (cave) on top of the Auyan Tepui is arguably one of the most spectacular caves on Earth and we were fortunate enough to spend a week inside camped up by the entrance and given full access into it's amazing network of beautiful galleries and stunning passages. Located close to one of the main entrances and positioned conveniently close to the underground camp, the most impressive gallery we found inside Imawari was called 'One Thousand Column Gallery'. This photograph shows the extremely unusual column like formations that are strewn all along the sides of the passage. It is truly remarkable. A small stream flows through the passage-way carving a route through the crumbly soft quartzite rock.
