In Mageni cave, we followed river passages negotiating waterfall after waterfall. My personal highlight of exploring Mageni was finding this huge lake into which Derbyshire Falls poured. At 15 m, it was the biggest waterfall we discovered in the cave. It was stunning to look at, but hard to pass, which we needed to do to explore the continuing cave passage. Getting to the foot of it was tricky, we couldn’t just swim to it because the water was too choppy with waves. The wind and the spray were violent. The only way was to claw around the wall to the foot of the waterfall from where we could find a climbable route.
