Looking closer at the rock and some calcite formations at the bottom of Veryovkina [cave], reveals some fascinating structures and shapes. Both these two photographs show the effect of water erosion within the rock and calcite. Waterworn grooves in both suggest that these locations might have spent some time fully submerged. Little did we know at the time these two photographs were taken, this was a sign of things to come.
A week later, during the flood pulse that suddenly plummeted into these chambers, all of these formations in the galleries were completely submerged.
